http://sharpologist.com/wp-content/uploads//prada.jpgI like the Prada brand a lot, but generally speaking, I canít afford too many of classic Italian labelís products. The Prada eyeglasses I own are certainly the nicest Iíve worn, but beyond that, most of my Prada admiration comes from window-shopping only.
At a more modest price point, however, is Pradaís line of menís colognes, but until now, I hadnít smelled a fragrance from the brand that I really, really liked. All of the ones Iíve sniffed at department store counters contain some mix of feminine ingredients Ė iris, violet and/or amber Ė that ultimately turned me off. But recently, Prada sent over three fragrances to review, and I think Iíve finally found my new summer cologne.
In order of my preference:
Prada Luna Rossa (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008NB8VUY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B008NB8VUY&linkCode=as2&tag=mansshablo-20)http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=mansshablo-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B008NB8VUY 34th Americaís Cup Limited Edition Ė In celebration of the Americaís Cup, this brand-new cologne is sporty and fresh, but not in an offensive, aquatic way that most ďsportĒ colognes smell to me, like Burberry Sport. Yes, thereís still Pradaís lavender and amber dancing around in here, but the orange, spearmint and clary sage bury those two ingredients just enough. The longevity is quite long, and this is an excellent hot weather cologne thatís neither overwhelmingly citrusy or aquatic. It doesnít smell like every other summer fragrance on the market, and for that reason alone, I really like it.
Amber Pour Homme Intense (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007W27ZOS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007W27ZOS&linkCode=as2&tag=mansshablo-20)http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=mansshablo-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B007W27ZOS Ė To me, this intense flanker from 2011 doesnít smell much like its original version, and thatís a good thing. The patchouli, spicy myrrh, Madagascar vanilla and citrusy bergamot blend together to create a dark, warm fusion of seduction elegance. With very good longevity, I imagine Iíll wear this hot and spicy oriental a lot in the fall and winter. Highly recommend.
Infusion D’homme (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0020MMGGC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0020MMGGC&linkCode=as2&tag=mansshablo-20)http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=mansshablo-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B0020MMGGC Ė I like, but donít love, this 2008 creation, because I smell a lot of that Prada iris. But neroli, vetiver and cedar are present, too, and Infusion works very nicely for daytime, dressed-up office wear. On my skin, Infusion didnít last as long as the other two Prada colognes I tested. It has a dry, classy feel to it, but Iíd recommend you sniff a sample before you buy this one.
